Brandtroducing: Willi and Ewald Schillig!

It happens that two brothers share a passion – yet ultimately go their separate ways . Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko dominated the boxing ring before Vitali entered politics. Or the Dassler brothers: Adolf "Adi" Dassler founded Adidas, and his brother Rudolf founded the Puma brand.
Ewald and Willi Schillig are no different: Their own success stories began in the 1940s with basket-making in Upper Franconia. And because it can be a bit confusing that Ewald and Willi share a surname but not a company, I'd like to give you a brief overview of the unique character of each brand in this blog post .
Immediately after the end of World War II , Ewald Schillig demonstrated his inventiveness: In 1945, he developed an upholstered wicker chest using traditional Upper Franconian wickerwork and local raw materials – seating and storage in one. This pragmatism reflected the spirit of the times and laid the foundation for a successful company history: From the production of strollers in the baby boom of the 1960s to elegant, cubist- inspired upholstered furniture in the 1990s, the brand has continually evolved with the needs of society. Today, Ewald Schillig stands for high-quality designer furniture that combines modern style, functionality , and comfort . The brand sees itself, not without reason, as the perfect choice for discerning individualists. The guiding principle behind the production of these exceptionally comfortable sofas and armchairs remains: "Time to chill!"

The story of Willi Schillig began in 1949, also in his own basket weaving workshop in Upper Franconia. As early as 1956, Willi Schillig ventured into the world of design and designed his first armchair. In 1970, he specialized in upholstered furniture, and in the 1980s, leather became the company's trademark . The goal: luxury for everyone! Willi Schillig had the not insignificant ambition to create the best seating comfort of all time. In 1987, he was even awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his entrepreneurial achievements! Today, his grandson Erik Stammberger runs the company, which also produces in China and the USA, while the headquarters are still located in Ebersdorf-Frohnlach in Upper Franconia. The company motto: "If you don't move with the times, you'll be left behind," is clearly lived out here in the best sense!
Ewald and Willi Schillig represent two independent brands from two talented founders who, while belonging to the same family, have taken completely different paths – like good red and white wine: both high-quality, both unique, but by no means interchangeable. The Schillig brands each represent 75 years of craftsmanship and the history of many family businesses: the courage to build something that enriches people's lives sustainably, even in difficult times with limited resources!
