The room's hidden director
The days are noticeably getting longer, the sunlight is more prominent, and the dark season is almost over. A good time, then, to consider the effect of light!
Lately, I've often noticed in the evenings how much light changes a room: I'm sitting at the same dining table as always, and yet everything suddenly feels transformed as soon as the light creates a specific atmosphere. This can be the natural moment of sunset, a central ceiling lamp, or the playful use of indirect light. Because good interior design doesn't end with the furniture. It often only truly comes into its own when the room in the evening genuinely comes alive.
That's why today I'd like to introduce you to one of our most exciting objects, in my opinion: the Crystal Rain by Anthologie Quartett, designed by Michael von Jakubowski and Rainer Krause. Its main focus is the material. The countless crystals capture the light so vividly that it appears like a silent rain shower, not cold and harsh at all, but soft and almost floating. I think the image of the chandelier alone makes this effect immediately palpable.
What I particularly like about the design is the tension between opulence and lightness. Of course, the lamp initially has an enormous presence. And yet it doesn't feel heavy. The metal frame intentionally recedes so that the light and crystals can do the actual work. This is precisely how something rare is created: an object with a great impact that doesn't overwhelm the room but transforms it in its own way.
On the one hand, the Crystal Rain invites you to place it at the center of attention. The delicate craftsmanship and the interplay of materials and light reflections are a design spectacle in themselves. At the same time, however, the arrangement does not appear intrusive.
Perhaps you know the feeling: you enter a room and immediately notice that someone here has a flair for atmosphere. This is exactly what this lamp can do. It is also suitable for a larger hallway or a reception room. It complements both traditional designs, such as the classic Cassina LC 2, and modern styles, like the Bretz Cloud 7.
So if you're looking for a lighting object that's more than just pure illumination, then be sure to take a closer look at this pendant lamp. You'll find even more inspiration in our Dining Room category. I've also put together my highlights from it below this blog post.
