There's that moment when a room suddenly "makes sense." The armchair is by the window, it's slowly getting dark outside, a good book is at your disposal, and the light from the reading lamp makes everything glow a pleasant golden glow. Furniture becomes a place . And only now do we "live" in the truest sense.
The German philosopher Martin Heidegger once put it this way: “Dwelling is the way in which mortals are on earth.” Not just a roof over one’s head, but a way of being in the world – with stability , comfort and care .
Martin Heidegger distinguishes mere construction from actual living. Living means arranging things in such a way that they create relationships : like an invisible bridge between us and the pieces of furniture. A good piece of furniture makes spaces experienceable as spaces because it organizes and brings together the surroundings. For me, this effect is evident, for example, in the Cassina Le Corbusier LC 2 , which immediately transforms the aura of a room and becomes the focal point of the room.
This is precisely what we're working on at Revive : When we repair and reupholster a piece, we not only extend its lifespan, but also its ability to be a place, to provide habitation . Repair is more than just correction—it's a culture of care. Our motto is REUSE – REPAIR – RETHINK. For us, this is not just a saying, but a lived concern for materials, craftsmanship and the future.
