Dare to be Different

July marks the beginning of vacation season, for many the most wonderful time of the year and somehow also the most inspiring and colorful. It's often the time when we allow ourselves to be a little bolder. We wear colors that might have stayed in the closet on an ordinary day, buy a colorful vase while traveling that actually "doesn't quite match the rest", and find precisely that particularly beautiful. On vacation, we decide less by the question "Does this match perfectly now?" and more by "Does this make me happy?".

In my opinion, this feeling should be allowed to permeate our homes all year round. And right now, it's especially fun to let ourselves be inspired by patterns again. Because patterns remind us that furnishings don't just have to be practical and functional. They can have character, surprise, and, above all, simply bring joy.

After recent years have seen a trend towards quieter colors, clean lines, and minimalist spaces, patterned fabrics are making a comeback. However, today's maximalism works a little differently. It doesn't mean "everything at once," but rather "more of what means something to me." Specifically, this means individual pieces that stand out and add character. And precisely therein lies the strength of patterns. They instantly bring atmosphere into a room. The possibilities are virtually endless, from small details to a real eye-catcher.

Sometimes it's the small details

Patterns don't always have to be loud to make an impact. A good example is decorative pillows with patterns in similar shades to the sofa or the rest of the decor, providing structure and contrast.

Or perhaps something more extravagant?

If you want to be a bit bolder, you can also work with a real statement piece featuring a patterned print. Such furniture pieces are meant to stand out. They don't need much competition, but simply the right spot to have an effect.

There's really only one truly important rule: There's no such thing as a good or bad pattern; it simply has to appeal to you. Because ultimately, it's about what story your home should tell. Nevertheless, especially for larger pieces of furniture, it's worth opting for patterns that you'll still enjoy years down the line. Classics like checks, stripes, floral patterns, or animal prints always work anew and can be combined in various ways.

A few small guidelines can still help with decorating: The larger a piece of furniture and the more striking the pattern, the calmer the rest of the room can be. A largely patterned sofa looks best when its surroundings give it space. For smaller elements like pillows, stools, or armchairs, however, you can be bolder and experiment. The room size also plays an important role.

In any case, we are especially happy when a piece of furniture with an extraordinary cover or an exciting pattern finds its way to us. Because these are exactly the pieces that tell stories and stick in your mind. Accordingly, we have picked out a few matching items for you.
