Introducing Revive! | Today: Henrike
Hey! We want to show you who is actually behind Revive! In this format, we regularly take you behind the scenes – where craftsmanship, passion, and ideas come together.
Our team is at the heart of Revive: everyone brings a unique perspective and special talents. Today we're talking to: Henrike!
Henrike, what do you do at Revive?
I am a buyer and therefore responsible for ensuring that the many beautiful designer furniture pieces find their way to us. Most of the time I'm up here in the office working on the computer - which includes daily stretch breaks. In between, however, I'm also in the hallowed halls to check furniture pieces and accept them for orders or to be in touch with the reconditioning/sales team. Purchasing involves various areas: among other things, we work with our purchasing forms, are active on eBay and classifieds, and communicate a lot with customers. The main goal, of course, is to find beautiful and special designer furniture and bring it in for Revive.
How did you come to Revive and what did you do before?
I used to be an interior designer in Vienna - hello from here! I originally come from a village near Münster, but I've traveled a lot and lived in different cities, then developed in the direction of interior design.
Love brought me to Cologne, and Revive was probably my professional destiny. Yes, many people always ask me how one can move away from Vienna. But to be honest, it's what's on the inside that counts, and the people of Cologne with their big, open hearts are just wonderful! It's also nice to be closer to my family.
How can you contribute your personal special skill here?
I love making people happy, and I think I bring a lot of energy, and a lot of positive energy is returned to me. I love my colleagues, we're all a great team here! It's just fun to interact with each other and support each other. This exchange is something very special for me, because communication is key.
How would you describe your work in one word or sentence?
Professional lifelong learner.
What do you do when you're not working at Revive?
I actually prefer crafting and discovering new things. I love doing everything with my hands. For example, I sew a lot. At the moment, however, I would probably describe myself more as a small travelholic, because I'm simply on the go a lot. Since I came to Cologne in February, I've perhaps spent three weekends actually here in Cologne and otherwise I've just been traveling. That's going to change now, so I can enjoy Cologne to the fullest and, above all, really get to know it!
What is your biggest dream?
Uh, that's a difficult question, if not the biggest! I think something that's important to me right now is being proud of myself. I've always been a bit of a creative thinker and thought about things differently. I believe today I'm proud to be who I am and to accept that. That it's cool that that's exactly what makes you who you are, and you can honestly show that to the world.
Do you have a favorite piece of furniture from us?
Of course, my favorite piece from the collection is the Varier Ekstrem, it's simply cool how versatile it is and it's a crazy eye-catcher! I would get one for myself in a cool color right away. I generally find sculptural and playful furniture exciting, where you can see the structure and which are not just functional. My only wish here for myself: I absolutely have to buy it, because I would definitely like to sit, lie, squat, or even... climb in it during my breaks.
How do you personally define sustainability?
Through knowledge, whether it's about interior design, food, relationships, everything that surrounds you. Once you deal with things, you know what they mean. Meaning (and thus awareness) is the most important thing in my opinion. That's especially important in today's fast-paced society.
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to say?
Stay cheerful and lively, and the world won't end. (Grandma's favorite saying, and I think there's a lot of truth to it.)
I thank Henrike for the nice conversation, and wish you a pleasant Sunday!
Your Christine
