Revive introduces itself | Today: Virginia – our fun-loving power woman
Hey! We want to show you who's behind Revive! In this format, we'll regularly take you behind the scenes – where craftsmanship, passion, and ideas come together.
Our team is the heart of Revive: Everyone brings a unique perspective and special talents. Today we're talking with: Virginia!
Clearly enjoys beautiful furniture: Power woman Virginia
Virginia, what do you do at Revive?
I sell the furniture here! That means you can meet me in person in the showroom, which I particularly enjoy because I love customer contact. It's always an exciting challenge to find the perfect piece of furniture for our customers. What I love most about it, however, isn't selling; it's responding to our visitors' ideas. That's actually the best part of my job.
How did you come to Revive and what did you do before?
Looking back, I simply didn't want to work in an office anymore – even though I originally studied architecture. I applied for various positions and eventually spent days and nights watching Revive blogs and videos. I was simply fascinated. I was particularly touched by the openness and approachability of the two founders, Paul and Jonas. Their story inspired me – as did the people here, who put so much heart and soul into it. As a founder myself, I know how important trust and working on equal terms are. And conventional work was never my desire – not to work for someone, but with someone. That's why I came to Revive. At the interview, Jonas handed me the contract straight away – which is rather unusual even for Revive. Since then, I've learned a lot within the company, as a team, and personally. I'm very grateful that my potential was seen and felt. I love what I do at Revive – and I've truly received a lot of love here.
How can you contribute your personal special skills here?
The key word is personality: I'm an all-rounder. I usually manage to recognize who's standing in front of me within the first few seconds. Sometimes I have to tone down my energy a bit because I have so much of it. I want people to feel comfortable and realize: She knows what she's doing and is definitely helping me. I empathize with people, find a way to connect with them, and always get a smile in return. Even with rather reserved clients! Thanks to my architecture degree and the fact that I even got to design my own chair back then, I understand proportions, relationships, processes, as well as movement and usable space. Therefore, I always think outside the box and present all possible options to clients. I try to create clarity for each client through my imagination and to explain what is sometimes difficult to imagine in simple terms. I love it most when clients bring in floor plans or pictures. That's when I'm completely in my element! I've also grown very fond of my colleagues. I see it as one of my responsibilities to ensure that everyone on the team is doing well and that we can enjoy pleasant moments and cozy get-togethers, where we consciously take short breaks on the way to our big goal. Revive is truly a family.
How would you describe your work here in one word or sentence?
At Revive, I not only get to work, but also experience things – consciously, emotionally, and formatively!
What do you do when you're not working at Revive?
I'm always working on small projects here: reorganizing the showroom, improving processes, or achieving success in inter-company relationships. Planning the last team event and finishing the relaxation room was also a huge pleasure for me. This means a lot to me because it focuses on mindfulness and spirituality – topics that are important to me. I'm proud of it and grateful to be able to implement such things. Apart from that, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exercising – fitness, running, cycling, hiking – but also yoga and meditation. I also enjoy painting, organizing private theme parties, and writing.
What is your biggest dream?
I'm already living my dream at Revive. I'm privileged to be part of this journey – and I see the potential, even for myself. One day I'd like to look back and say: I was there. It's about embracing everything that awaits us in the near and distant future, constantly readjusting, and setting priorities. Hats off to Paul and Jonas for their daily work! Ultimately, my greatest wish has always been to be part of something meaningful that's growing and flourishing – and to contribute on an equal footing, rather than just being assigned tasks. A dream come true!
Do you have a favorite piece of furniture that Revive has or has had in its inventory?
I love all our furniture! Brand, design, and function—those aren't the most important things for me. We fall in love with our eyes first: with other people as well as with furniture. It always starts with the outer shell—with furniture, the upholstery, the feel, the colors. We ask ourselves: Is it pleasing to the eye? Does the fabric feel good? Will we immerse ourselves in it and spend time enjoying it? It's a question of comfort, then. If all of that is true, you'll just want to throw yourself onto the sofa—like me, as you can see in the photo.
How do you personally define sustainability?
Sustainability means thinking! And for me, sustainability means taking lasting, effective action – with an eye on the future of people, society, and the environment. Thinking means consciously considering before you act – pausing, reflecting, and assessing the consequences. Only through conscious thought can we make sustainable decisions. And that's precisely where Revive finds the happy medium. We've probably all bought a brand-name T-shirt before. We also look at the price – and where to get it cheapest. So why pay more for the same quality? That's precisely why so many customers come to us. Of course, some haven't been to us yet and are put off by our concept. They only want new things. But even a new pair of jeans is tried on an average of seven to twelve times in the store. – I'm sure we'll win them over! People who have already walked in our shoes, visited us, seen our workshop, and were convinced. They get the complete package, a complete outfit, so to speak. They understand our basic idea – and think in the truest sense: sustainably.
