Time for the essentials
In the Rhineland, you can clearly feel Lent: As soon as Carnival fades, things become quieter. People think slower, re-evaluate, and ask themselves what is truly important. I always enjoy using this time in spring to refocus on the essentials.
I find it particularly interesting how differently people fast: Some give up sweets, others alcohol, and still others currywurst and fries. For example, I try to let myself be less distracted and simply switch off my phone in the evenings.
Perhaps this Sunday is also a good moment for you to quietly ask yourself what you could well do without to see things more clearly.
Because Lent means more than just abstaining from food, drink, or habits. It's about mindfulness, gratitude, and a conscious interruption of everyday life. That's why the topic fits so well with the circular economy for me: a good piece of furniture doesn't constantly need to be replaced. Often, it just needs attention, time, craftsmanship, and the right perspective. Perhaps that is also a form of fasting: cutting back on the superfluous and giving space to the good again.
And this attitude is evident not only in our furniture but also in our interactions. At Revive, people with different life paths, rhythms, and beliefs work together. I find it all the more wonderful when consideration is naturally given to this. In our sewing workshop, Rafah and Ömer currently start their work at 3 AM during Ramadan and finish around 1 PM. I think that's how work should be: humane and flexible enough for real life!
Below this blog post, I've compiled our most relaxing daybeds for you: the perfect piece of furniture for moments when you find peace and feel how good a comfortable home can be.
