Wednesday morning with Revive: A guest on ZDF
Recently, our warehouse transformed for a few hours! Suddenly, cables were hanging between the high shelves, a camera was searching for its place, and there was a palpable sense of that unique "it's about to start" excitement in the air.
How did this come about? ZDF (a German public-service television broadcaster) came to visit us! More precisely: the team from "Volle Kanne" ( a German food show). Anyone familiar with the program knows its format: live in the morning, close to everyday life, with service features, anecdotes, and conversations. Sometimes they cook, sometimes they offer home decorating tips. All at a pleasant pace, perfect for a great start to the day.
What I particularly liked about the day of filming was this contrast. The camera in front, reality in the background. In the workshop, under the lights and between workbenches, our furniture stood as if on a stage. A piece of material on the preparation table, next to it the traces of craftsmanship that you don't see if you only know the finished piece of furniture. And in the middle of it all, conversations that were surprisingly calm and open.
And of course, Frank , our furniture doctor, was there too. Frank sees things on a sofa that many would overlook. Where a material is giving way, where a seam is no longer neat, where a small repair can extend its lifespan by another ten years.
I am sure that in conversation with him you notice exactly what we experience constantly in everyday life: Our processing means craftsmanship with a lot of love, competence and decades of experience.
Another small, almost touching connection emerged. Sarah Tiefenberg from the ZDF team was visiting us. As it happens, she's also the instructor of our seamstress, Laura. In a way, it's Revive in miniature. Things are interconnected. Experience is passed down from person to person. And from the good that's already there, something new emerges that continues to have an impact.
Why am I telling you all this in such detail? Because visibility for used furniture isn't a luxury. The secondhand market thrives on trust. New furniture often sells based on promises. Used furniture sells based on evidence: its condition, the care taken, the hands that worked on it. The more people see how professional the refurbishment and reupholstering really are, the less secondhand feels like a compromise. Our goal is to offer the same quality as new furniture.
