Revive introduces itself | Today: Vincent – the face behind the newsletter

We want to show you who's behind Revive! In this format, we regularly take you behind the scenes – where ideas, craftsmanship, and passion come together.

This week, I'm the person behind the newsletter—in the interview! Mara from the sales team took the questions, which you may already know from the team introduction.

Vincent's study – the creation of the Revive Newsletter

This is where the Revive Newsletter is created every week: A look into Vincent's study

Vincent, how did you come to Revive and what excited you about the idea?

I came to Revive through the two founders, Paul and Jonas – we knew each other before the company was founded and were friends. So, I was able to experience the entire development process firsthand.
What inspires me is how much their energy continues to shape the company today: open and forward-looking, I would say; Revive is not a "normal" company. I feel very comfortable with that.
Fun fact: Jonas was held back in 7th grade and ended up in my class, while Paul was one grade above us. That's how we met.

You write our weekly newsletter – how did that come about?

I've always written a lot—poetry slams, smaller publications, and my own book. In general, I've always had activities related to writing.
A while ago, Jonas asked me to convert our repair guides —videos on how to repair your furniture at home—into blog posts. He saw my background in philosophy and political science as adding value to Revive. That's how I started writing the newsletter last summer.

What made you want to write in general – and when did you start?

I've always loved reading, and to this day, I absolutely love listening to German rap, which sometimes surprises people. In 2013, I started my first online text blog. This was followed by an internship at a newspaper, performances at theater events, and finally, in 2018, my first poetry slam performances. My first performance came about quite by chance—a friend's partner simply booked me. Of course, I was terrified, but it was still fun and ignited a fire within me. In 2019, I even participated in the German-speaking Poetry Slam Championship.

Where do you get your inspiration for the content? Are there any particular rituals or sources?

I'm often inspired by our new additions —the different pieces of furniture, their colors, and shapes. The team itself is also a great source of inspiration: conversations with colleagues always open up new perspectives. I also enjoy researching, going for walks, or simply letting myself drift with everyday life.

Do you have a favorite issue of the Revive newsletter or a post you're particularly proud of?

Yes – the #FurniturePhilosophy series! This fusion of philosophy and furniture makes me immensely happy. I also particularly remember the issue " The Man with the Square Armchairs ," about Le Corbusier's famous "square armchairs." That was the first time I felt my full passion and enthusiasm for the subject.

How would you describe the style of our newsletter – and what is particularly important to you?

It's important to me that the newsletter doesn't seem lifeless. It shouldn't be the average newsletter you'd expect from online pharmacies or other companies. Our style combines the intellectual with the emotional and the everyday: intellectual, yet approachable and realistic. Above all, it's important to me that there's always a positive atmosphere, that you might learn something or enjoy something nice.

What has been the biggest challenge in writing so far?

At first, it was difficult to really get into the furniture world—I don't have any formal training in the field. So, it was a new field that I had to get used to. And in general, finding topics that truly interest our customers is a challenge, I'd say. I set aside a certain amount of time each week to ponder on them, so that the topics remain exciting for readers.

What do you do when you're not thinking about furniture or newsletters?

I'm currently completing my Master's in Philosophy here in Bonn and, at the same time, I'm working at the Jülich Research Center, doing public relations for hydrogen. My work there involves, among other things, presenting research results in a way that's understandable to everyone and writing speeches for politicians. I also spend a lot of time at church—my faith is important to me. And I watch films as often as I can, love cooking, and hanging out at the pub with friends. Topics like psychology, art, and interpersonal exchange are part of my life. I actually like everything that has to do with people and life!

Do you have a favorite piece from our range?

Clearly: the Cassina Le Corbusier LC 2 ! It's also my mother's favorite chair, and it holds a lovely childhood connection for me. I saw it in magazines and admired it at design exhibitions back then—even though we didn't have one at home. Hopefully, that will happen soon!

Finally: What can our readers look forward to in the future?

Here's to a consistently positive atmosphere, exciting insights into the world of designer furniture, and personal stories from the team. The newsletter should never be boring—quite the opposite: It's meant to stimulate thought, brighten up your Sunday—and, starting this week, also offer space for topic suggestions. At the very bottom of the newsletter, you'll find the option to send me an email.
