These words by Giorgio Bocca were created after a meeting with founder Piero Busnelli. He could not have described the soul of the Italian brand more accurately.

Busnelli dares to use new materials and the idea of ​​completely industrializing production. When he observed how rubber ducks were made from injected PU cold foam, his idea was born. He creates furniture whose basic frame is made of metal and embedded in polyurethane.
This revolution, coupled with great and innovative design concepts from renowned designers, catapults B&B Italia to the top of the luxury brands.

Piero Ambrogio Busnelli founded the company in Italy in 1966. He followed his progressive spirit and, unlike other furniture manufacturers, dispensed with pure handcraft early on. He implemented his desire for industrial production and in the process invented a new technology that revolutionized furniture production: the PU cold foam machine. The frame, which was not made of wood for the first time at B&B Italia, was completely covered with injected polyurethane. The product took on the desired shape using a mold.

The first upholstered furniture to be made in this way is the famous Coronado armchair.
It can be disassembled into individual parts and assembled with just two screws, which also allows for easy shipping.

The brand remains on the road to success and continues to bring innovative products onto the market.
With the Le Bambole collection in 1972, a one-piece upholstered furniture was created for the first time. Exhibitions followed in the
Museum of Modern Art in New York. Today the company is active with the brands B&B Italia and Maxalto
