Behind Ewald Schillig is an Upper Franconian manufacturer that has been building upholstered furniture since the 1940s. This corner sofa shows the restrained side of the range: a low, clearly defined body with softly rounded edges, plus loose back cushions that remove any stiffness from the whole. On the left side, the sofa extends into an open chaise longue without a backrest, while on the right, it finishes with a wide, softly draped armrest. The body is supported by slender, conically tapered metal feet that noticeably lift it off the floor.

The armrest is the functional part of this sofa: it can be folded up, thereby freeing up the seating surface all the way to the edge. When folded down, you have a clear side end to lean against; when folded up, a continuous surface on which you can stretch out to your full length. Together with the open chaise longue on the opposite side, this creates a reclining surface across both sections – exactly what a corner sofa of this type should provide in the evening.
