The Atavola from B&B Italia is a table that relies entirely on understatement – and draws its effect precisely from that. The square top is made of satin-finished glass with a milky-white, matte surface, whose edge gleams with a subtle green tint in the light. This edge slightly overhangs the frame all around, making the top appear to float rather than rest on it. It is supported by a slender aluminum frame with four straight legs in the same light tone – no ornamentation, no curves, just clean lines.

The satin-finished glass is the more practical choice compared to clear glass: fingerprints and smudges are much less noticeable, and the eye is not drawn to the legs and floor beneath. The square basic shape ensures a sociable seating arrangement where everyone sits equally at the table – in our experience, this works better for a long evening than the classic rectangular shape. B&B Italia has been building near Milan since 1966 and is one of the companies that have shaped Italian furniture design internationally.
