Der Suitcase ist das Stück, mit dem 1997 die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Rodolfo Dordoni und Minotti begann — inspiriert von der Welt der Mode und des Gepäcks, daher der Name. Die Ästhetik der quadratischen Linien fällt sofort ins Auge: ein nahezu perfekter Würfel, dessen Armlehnen und Rückenlehne auf gleicher Höhe umlaufen und nur zur Sitzfläche hin ausgeschnitten sind. Diese absolute Strenge der Form lässt viel Raum für den Bezug, und genau darauf zielt der Entwurf. Hier ist es ein mattes Wildleder in einem hellen Flieder-Grau, dessen samtige Oberfläche das Licht schluckt statt es zu spiegeln — die Kanten zeichnen sich dadurch weich statt hart ab.

Unter den vier Ecken sitzen flache verchromte Füße, die den Korpus knapp anheben. Dieses Detail ist beim Original-Suitcase entscheidend: Es lässt den massiven Würfel schweben, statt ihn auf dem Boden aufsitzen zu lassen.
